HIVTools Models Download
The HIVTools Research Group has
developed a toolkit "HIVTools" which comprises a range
of dynamic, user-friendly mathematical models that can be used to
estimate how different interventions impact on patterns of STI and
HIV transmission. Each model is accompanied by a manual which gives
detailed information about how to use the model.
The models are designed to be used alongside "Costing Guidelines
for HIV/AIDS prevention strategies". These guidelines provide
the basis for standardising the collection of cost data for HIV
prevention strategies. There are two components to the costing guidelines:
Three models are currently available
to download:
IDU: models the impact of strategies to reduce HIV transmission
among injecting drug users.
SexWork: models the impact of interventions focussed on sex
workers and their clients (including the promotion of condom use,
and improved STI treatment).
School: models the impact
of school based education projects, simulating the patterns of HIV
and STD transmission between in-school youth and older age groups.
The models and manuals are available
to download for free. Please take a moment to fill in the following
details below, so that we may keep you updated of further developments
which may be of interest.
