Training in Cost-effectiveness Analysis of HIV prevention

The HIVTools Research Group carries out training on the use of economic and epidemiological modelling techniques to estimate the impact and cost-effectiveness of different HIV prevention interventions. The 4 day training course is designed to provide participants with an over-view of the issues associated with such analysis, and to enable them to become familiar with available tools designed to assist in the economic evaluation of different HIV prevention activities in different settings. An interactive workshop environment and practical real-life examples of analyses from Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe are used to convey the principles and techniques.

To date trainees include national policy-makers, programme managers, researchers and project staff in Laos PDR, Ukraine, Bangladesh and Malawi. Support for attendance at the training workshops has been provided by DFID, UNDP and the British Council.
